St. Vincent Teases New Album for Spring Release in Interview

Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent, has been a huge musical and feminist inspiration for fans all over. According to Pitchfork, she recently mentioned in an interview that her next album should be coming out this Spring. She portrays her talents through singing-songwriting and being a multi-instrumentalist. She spent three years studying at the Berklee College of Music and then began her musical career as a member of the band The Polyphonic Spree. She also was a former member of Sufjan Steven’s touring band. In 2006 she took her musical ambitions into her own hands and formed her own band.

St. Vincent’s music is revived a lot of positive feedback for its unique artistic style which is seemingly a mix between soft rock, jazz and experimental rock and pop. St. Vincent has inclined her success rate from 2006 immensely but has also become better known by opening for huge name acts. For instance, she has been an opening show for The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, Death Cab For Cutie and many others. In 2007, she released her debut album Marry Me. Following in 2009 she released Actor and in 2011, Strange Mercy. In the follow up year of Strange Mercy, St. Vincent did a collaborative album with David Bryne titled, Love This Giant–along with an extensive amount of other musical workings.

More recently, has commented on her upcoming untitled album releasing this spring. She was noted saying the album is to be a, “’real sea change’ in her sound.” Giving fans all over anticipation to what she has in store this spring. She also explained in an interview talking about her upcoming album, “I’ve been able to step back and reflect and not just be in the tour, record, tour, record cycle that I’ve been in for about 10 years. I think it’ll be the deepest, boldest work I’ve ever done,” Seemingly, St. Vincent has acquired plenty of time to reflect and properly enhance her musical talents for her next album.

Lastly, Clark has made it onto the cover of Guitar World, which she will be released this January. Previous issues with women on the cover specifically placed woman with bikinis on the cover. However, Clark is seen in this upcoming photo holding a guitar and an ironic bikini white t-shirt making her own mark on the magazine itself.
