Kerry McCoy from Deafheaven, who’s released New Bermuda year ago, and Antonio Williams, also known as Antwon, who’s released Double Ecstasy earlier this year, recently collaborated to produce an album called 25th St Sessions 7″, which is available through the record label Ghost Ramp. With this release, the duo also released the song “Changes” from the album.
The song starts out with a repetitive drum beat mixed with a electronic wave. As this beat continue, the audience hears McCoy’s guitar parts following as Williams begins singing the lyrics. As the song comes to an end, the audience hears the slowly fading noise of the guitar solo. The song can be listened to below.
Williams explained the meet up between with McCoy saying “Kerry and I met at the last Caltrain stop in San Francisco, summer of 2012. Somewhat later on while working on Double Ecstasy, I asked Kerry to come in and make something for the record. He did and this became ‘Changes.’ Kerry said he had the riff forever in his head. My man Lars Stalfors helped us out overseeing and the rest was herstroy.”
