After releasing their debut album A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology back in 2007, the Menzingers have continued to bust out some of the best punk rock tunes for the last ten years. This March they are coming to San Francisco to perform at Slim’s, which is located in the South of Market district. They will be headlining their new 2017 tour alongside the openers Jeff Rosenstock and Rozwell Kid.
The four piece rock group is about to drop their newest album After The Party on February 3rd in the new year. Already the group put out the singles for the upcoming album. The first single, Lookers, is out and already has over 100,000 hits on YouTube and the other is Bad Catholics, a personal favorite, followed with a sick music video to accompany the punk hit. With their pending release in 2017, the band has already released four studio albums like 2012’s On The Impossible Past, which was dubbed “Album of the Year” by absolutepunk.com and punknews.org. Even more recently in 2014 they put out Rented World, which was popularized with it’s hits I Don’t Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore and In Remission.
This band is reminiscent of punk music from the 90s and the Menzingers are continuing to carry the torch for punk rock. Their sound lives in the same vein of Bad Religion and The Bouncing Souls and for the younger crowd anyone fans of Tiger’s Jaw or Against Me! should keep this band on their concerts-to-go-to list this year. Their fast paced and confrontational lyrics will strike the nerves of their listeners and resonate with the heavy guitar and loud, candid lyrics. Not gonna lie, this is one of the bands that got me through the suburban landscape of high school and my teenage years, so hopefully I’ll catch you at Slim’s this winter to watch them absolutely kill it on stage.
