English folk rock trio, the Staves, have released 21 new tour dates for 2017; Kicking off in Seattle, Wa and ending in Toronto, ON. The Staves first attracted attention in the US when they performed as the supporting act for The Civil Wars in 2012. These appearances were followed by performances at South by Southwest and a tour with Bear’s Den, Nathaniel Rateliff and Ben Howard as well as later supporting the legendary Bon Iver. Not only did the Staves tour in support of Bon Iver but he was also the producer for their debut album If I Was which was released March 23, 2015. Recently the Staves released Sleeping In A Car, a three-song EP on Atlantic Records in the UK/EU.
The sisters said of the EP, “These songs reflect the transient nature of traveling. Fleeting moments, like a slide show—reflections in car windows, streetlights passing in rhythm, stolen phone calls, late nights. Feelings of displacement and a disconnect—living in some sort of alternate state of reality. But underneath it all is the feeling of adventure and making your own rules and how dizzying and freeing that can be.”
