Irish singer/songwriter Lisa Hannifin debuted the music video for her song “Snow” earlier this week. The track appeared on her acclaimed third album At Swim, released August 19, 2016 via Hoop Recordings and Play It Again Sam.
The video, clearly inspired by current Christmas time motifs, features Hannigan playing guitar and singing while surrounded by glowing Christmas-like lights. The video’s tight direction features smooth cuts from close to wide shots, and employs a heavy dose of lens flair.
Hannigan toured in support of 2011 album Passenger for near two years before beginning work on At Swim. Despite initially struggling to produce new material, she received a jolt of inspiration from The National guitarist and producer Aaron Dessner. The acclaimed guitarist eventually produced the entirety of At Swim.
Hannigan made her film debut in 2015, voicing a Selkie in the Oscar-nominated Irish animation Song of the Sea. Since then, she’s covered of “Danny Boy” for the TV series Fargo, and contributed vocals the film Fury.
