With the start of the month of December and Christmas coming our way, the Melvins are joining the Christmas fun with a cover of “Carol of the Bells.” The track is part of Amazon’s latest installment for their Indie for the Holidays playlist.
The Melvins turn classic cheery “Carol of the Bells” into a dark frightening affair. Usually we expect church bells and singing to follow Christmas songs, but they brought a whole new take to the table. The song is worthy enough to be part of a Nightmare Before Christmas spinoff.
The frontman Buzz Osbourne tells Sterogum that “The song has scared us since we were children, thats why we wanted to do it.” The band has definitely given us an indie taste of Christmas cheer.
