Toronto duo Jesse F. Keeler and AL-P (MSTRKRFT), have a keen love for electro, dance-punk music that would make any Daft Punk fan feel right at home. The two are most famous for remixing singles from notable artist such as Metric, Bloc Party, and Justice. Their third, and boldest album to date, Operators, was released this past summer on Last Gang Records, and was recorded using all analog equipment. It’s been sometime since the duo has last released an album– 2009’s Fist of God –so you could say this marks a return for MSTRKRFT.
AL-P and Keeler have known each other since the late 90’s, with AL-P producing albums for Keeler’s original band Death from Above 1979 since 2004. Their first two singles were released in 2006 following the split of Keeler’s band. In between albums, the group stays busy remixing singles, and playing some of the world’s biggest festivals such as Bonaroo and the World Electronic Music Festival.
MSTRKRFT will be stopping in Austin to promote their latest album Operators, and will play a live set at Empire Control Room & Garage on the 10th.
