In 2016, Cate Le Bon put out her album Crab Days. Crab Days was an album of the odd, the imaginative, and the disordered. At least, the Wales born musician typically describes the tone of the album and its writing in a similar way. Now, set to release at the beginning of 2017, Cate Le Bon is releasing four track EP that features the scraps of Crab Days. Noting the new tracks as in the same time frame of writing as Crab Days, she points out that similarities should be expected.
The EP, as said, is the leftovers of her previous work just pooled together, and, appropriately, the name of the album is Rock Pool. The title track “Rock Pool” features a familiar tone sung in a folk-like hymn. The instruments take on a raw melody, excluding any essence of over-production and just musicianship and arrangement. “I’m only living in a rock pool,” the song repeats throughout under the accompanied sounds.
