The Last Waltz 40 Tour: A Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz was recently announced by Warren Haynes, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson and John Medeski.
This tour will celebrate when the Band recorded the Last Waltz at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on November 25, 1976. With this, The Band later released it as an album and concert film in 1978. The Band is an Canadian-American rock group consisting of the members Rick Danko (bass guitar, double bass, fiddle, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophones, trumpet), Richard Manuel (piano, drums, vocals) and Robbie Robertson (guitar, percussion, vocals)—and Levon Helm (drums, mandolin, guitar, vocals).
This tour will last from January 21st to the beginning of February. The tour will have one date in Canada and the rest in the east side of the United States.
According to the press release , Michael McDonald had said “I’ll never forget the experience of playing these songs with this group of musicians in New Orleans earlier this year. We are celebrating something truly special and I’m honored to be a part of it.” Warren Haynes had also added “The Last Waltz is a true piece of rock n’ roll history. The music is as soulful, relevant and powerful today as it was 40 years ago. We can’t wait to carry on the legacy of these songs for fans.”
The members of this tour have recently been busy with their own band and projects such as Warren Haynes has recently worked on the release of The Tel-Star Session with his band Gov’t Mule.
