When an artist is able to create a sound that captures the ear of a person to the point where they can’t let it go, that have gained a fan. The beauty of fans is that the moment an artist announces they are making a return it triggers the memories a fan has of how that artist made them feel. That is what Jim James has done recently.
According to CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND, in a recent reddit AMA Jim James said “We started another Monsters of Folk record a few years ago, for a screenplay that Conor wrote for a Monsters of Folk film,” “We hope both happen someday, cuz we wanna write music for the film, but it’s tough to get a weird film made these days! Maybe someday!”
This announcement falls in line with a previous announcement from 2015 about a possible new Monsters Of Folk album. Members of the band, despite taking their time to put out a group album, have been individually active. In his time away from Monsters Of Folk, Oberst has released 3 albums this years Ruminations; Jim James put out his second solo album, Eternally Even and Ward put out a solo album with this years More Rain.
Also, in the AMA James revealed that MMJ hopes to record something new in the spring to release for fans.
