After an extensive hiatus footage of American rock band Evanescence (who rose to emo fame following the release of their song “Bring Me to Life” on the soundtrack for critically panned action movie “Daredevil”) has been posted online today showing the band performing a new song called “Take Cover” on October 28 in Dallas, Texas. The video was filmed during one of the stops on the band’s small run of dates the band has scheduled in support of their December 9th release date for a new vinyl box The Ultimate Collection.

The band has been playing the track live as part of the small tour not only in support of The Ultimate Collection but also with the fans in mind. In an interview with TeamRock singer Amy Lee told the reporter “Kind of in light of this whole box set theme, we wanted to do everything that the fans want and not just what we felt like doing. It has been so fulfilling and so fun.”

Lee also later went on to mention “Take Cover” and the reasoning behind the band including this new track while promoting The Ultimate Collection. Lee said, “We are playing a new song live right now. We got together for rehearsals and we really focused this tour on the fans and the history of the band.”

While “Take Cover” is a new song for the fans according to Lee it’s something they have had for a while and they decided to bring it out on their tour because it’s what the fans wanted. “When we got together the guys were really strongly supportive of it, we had a song in the bank. And we were like, ‘You know what the fans would really love is a new song. That’s all they ever ask for. So we knocked the dust off an old song called ‘Take Cover’ that we had in the bank for a while and we loved it. It’s one of our favorite moments every night on the tour.”

Even with a new track and new live performances from the band, there is no sign yet if Evanescence will ever make a full return to the spotlight and as of now, there is no mention of plans to record the follow-up to 2011s self-titled effort. However, when approaching the topic of  future plans Lee seemed optimistic enough to give the most hardcore fans of the band hope stating, “We’re definitely in a creative mindset,” she said. “We’re playing the best that this band has ever played. Everyone is healthy and happy and loves being here and likes working together. It sounds like maybe that shouldn’t be so rare, but it really is. So we’re looking for opportunities to work together more and we want to get creative. We’re definitely in that new chapter moment where the wheels are turning.”

“Take Cover” lyrics:

By the way that you talk to me

I can see the liar, dream that i’ll believe

By the way, don’t you forget

Who you are now

‘Cause that’s not your name

You better take cover

I’m coming back to take your world down

Move over, if you can

You’re gonna wish that you did

Seed to your insecurity

That’s what drove you down in the first place but you had enough of me?

in your big web of lies

Gonna be the bitch you make me out to be

Oh you better take cover

You are the last to face it, my wrath?

Move over if you can

Make you feel my wrath

Take cover

I’m gonna have to take you all down

Move over if you can

You’re gonna wish that you did
