John Legend Announces New Album Darkness And Light for December 2016 Release

John Legend has recently been working on a new album called Darkness And Light, which is set to release December 2nd through Columbia Records.

Blake Mills and John Ryan will be the producers of the album, taking the same role he did on Legend’s previous album Love in the Future which was released in 2013. It has been said that the album will feature collaborations with Chance the Rapper, Miguel, Kamasi Washington and Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard.  The tracklist for the album is listed below. The artist has also released a video for his new single from the album called “Love Me Now”. Legend has said “A lot of the difference is just my own evolution as a person, as a father and as a husband. This will be the first time I’ve made an album, given those life changes that I’ve gone through. And I think you can hear it in the music.”

According to the press release, Mills had the following to say about Legend’s new album:

“DARKNESS AND LIGHT is John Legend’s manifesto. Following the tradition of Soul/R&B music that celebrates love and challenges indecency, DARKNESS AND LIGHT digs into John’s long-standing devotion to social justice, the challenges and rewards of a marriage constantly in the public eye and the recent birth of his first child, Luna. This record goes against the grain, boldly reminding us that though darkness is abound, it is the light that will ultimately push us forward.”

A little over a month ago, Legend performed on The Magnificent Coloring Tour with Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, etc. This event was held one day at U.S Cellular Field in Chicago.
