The Afgan Whigs announced earlier today they will perform the entirety of acclaimed 1996 album Black Love at two select concerts in support of long-time guitarist Dave Rosser. Doctors recently diagnosed Rosser with inoperable colon cancer.

The band will play The Civic Theatre in New Orleans on Saturday December 10th and The Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on December 14th.

The New Orleans set will feature performances from The Afghan Whigs, Mark Lanegan, Ani DiFranco, Morning 40 Federation, King James & The Special Men, and C.C. Adcock & The Lafayette Marquis. The Los Angeles set will feature performances from The Afghan Whigs, Mark Lanegan, Moby and Carina Round.

The Afgan Whigs hope proceeds raised from their two performances will prolong Rosser’s life expectancy.

“Dave Rosser has been my close friend and bandmate for over a decade now,” lead singer Greg Dulli said via the band’s website. “By doing these shows for him we hope to ease any financial stress he may face as he pursues treatment to combat his illness. 100% of the proceeds from these shows will go to his medical care. I’m hopeful that folks will come out and show their support for Dave who will be performing with us.”

The Afgan Whigs fans who cannot attend the show can donate via a designated GoFundMe page. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday.

Rosser toured extensively with The Afghan Whigs, Twilight Singers, Mark Lanegan and Marc Broussard. He also contributed to Ani Difranco and Joseph Arthur helmed productions.

UPDATE (11/14): A third show on November 13th, also at the Telegram Ballroom in Los Angeles, has just been announced, and will include performances by Eagles Of Death Metal, Josh Homme, The Gutter Twins, Duff McKagan and special guests. Tickets for the show on the 14th are currently sold out.
