Japandroids Announces New Album Near To The Heart Of Life For 2017 Release

Alternative rock duo Japandroids have been playing several unheard songs while on their current tour, and fans have been speculating a new album must be in the making. Now they have confirmed the rumors as they announced a new album called Near to the Wild Heart of Life to be released next year via ANTI-records. The Canadian based band dropped the news with an intense thirty seven second teaser to get the fans riled up for another epic release. Click below to watch the short clip.

They have already released several songs from the upcoming LP inlcuding “Midnight to Morning,” “True Love,” and “Arc of Bar.” Japandroids kicked off their tour in their hometown of Vancouver, Canada earlier in October and played their brand new song “Arc of Bar,” which you can catch here. This tour is the first in three years, although they played at Viceland SXSW in 2013.

Near to the Wild Heart of Life will be following two earlier albums; 2012’s Celebration Rock and 2009’s Post-Nothing. Celebration Rock received critical acclaim and was nominated to receive a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. It also appeared on MTV’s Best Albums of 2012 list and LA Time’s Best Music of 2012 list. In 2009 the band had to self-finance their album, and ultimately agreed they wouldn’t promote the album once it was released because they believed they weren’t going to make it big. However, Pitchfork magazine promoted their song “Young Hearts Spark Fire” as one of the best new songs and got the band major exposure that they weren’t previously used to.

Make sure to watch out for new music from the Canadian rock duo and check out the teaser for their upcoming album.
