According to PITCHFORK, AFI has announced that their new album, “AFI (The Blood Album), will be out January 20th 2017, on Concord.
The album like many other albums will have a central sound from a producer. The album will be produced by Jade Puget and co-produced by Matt Hyde.
This marks a return for AFI. This is not a new choice for an artist to make when they have finished an album. The process of creating an album can be mentally exhausting, which can be attributed to self-pressure and lack of inspiration. The other part of the process is the business. For a number of artists, the business is the most draining part of the process. A record label looking to interact with an artist who is in love with the art can cause a divide. This generation of music is responding to this friction by choosing to put out music on the internet or dropping surprise albums. Passionate fans come with high expectations that the artist, in this case, AFI never even set for themselves. The last time that AFI put out an album was 2013’s Burial.
Coming from a little-known place called Ukiah, California. The members of AFI (A Fire Inside) first came into contact with each other in High School. An origin that many other artists are found to have when people look into their history pre-fame to build a story around them. The featured members of the band are Jade Puget and Hunter Burgan and the original co-founders are Davey Hovak and Adam Carson since 1998.
For anybody who is a fan of punk rock music or alternative music AFI’s early albums The Art of Drowning made an appearance on different Billboard charts. Their self-titled album and EP made it all the way to the number four spot on Billboards Top Independent Albums chart. These past releases would be good to listen to for a fan who is interested in digging into the past to find the origin of what they love.
This news of a new album coming from AFI did not come alone. To accompany this news of a new album AFI has put out two new songs titled, “Snow Cats” and “White Offerings”.
January 20th 2017, is three months away and it couldn’t get here fast enough as fans of AFI await the release of their new album “AFI (The Blood Album).
