Shock rock group GWAR launched a Kickstarter fund earlier this week in an attempt publish its four-issue full-color comic book. The book, GWAR: Orgasmaggedon, is created by the band, writer Matt Miner, artist Jonathan Brandon Sawyer, colorist Marissa Louise, letterer Taylor Esposito, and editor Brendan Wright.
At this time, GWAR have raised over $22,000 in support of their comic book campaign. Their stated goal is to reach $39,000 in donations before attempting to publish GWAR: Orgasmaggedon. Ideally, they will publish a fifth issues of the comic book, provided they receive the necessary funds.
To incentivize donations, GWAR will give away multiple prizes to random donors. Most notably, they will give away former stage props, including the bloody skull of Osama bin Laden and the decapitated head of Mitt Romney.
The band last used Osama bin Laden on tour in 2004, and last used Mitt Romney in 2012. Other incentives offered include specialized comic book covers, signed merchandise, GWAR’s original artwork painted on drums, painted baby GOR-GOR character dinosaurs and posters.
GWAR described the comic book’s overall story on their website.
Straight outta Antarctica, come along for a ride with heavy metal Gods of Gore and masters of all that lives GWAR, as they bumble their way through time, making friends, killing friends, and drowning the entire human timeline in blood, bile, and, err . . . other fluids, explaining once and for all the question on everyone’s minds: “How the hell did we get here, and why is everything so damn effed up?!”
It’s gonna be a bloodbath, a royal rumble, and the touching story of a boy and the dead dog he loves all rolled up into the awesomest and most violently vulgar time-travel comic story to ever grace your pathetic human eyeballs!
GWAR will conclude their fall tour October 30 at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club.
