Members of Blondie, MC5, The Replacements and The Heartbreakers Form Supergroup For Benefit Concert in New York City

With the holidays approaching us around the corner, a few classic bands have formed a “supergroup” that is performing for one night only. Members from Blondie, MC5, The Replacements, and The Heartbreakers are coming together mid November (about a week before Thanksgiving) to honor Stephen Saban. Last year, at age 69, Stephen Saban, writer and early punk rock proctor was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. As a retiree, Saban’s medical expenses have surpassed the combination of both insurance and fixed income.

Thankfully, all of the proceeds from this concert will be attributed toward Saban’s medical treatment. Each ticket can be purchased for $50.00 here. The performers will captivate attendee’s.

Starting with Clem Burke, also known as the drummer from the band Blondie or The Ramones has been playing a different tune more recently. As of 2011, Burke joined together a band called The International Swinger. In 2015, they recorded their first ever self-titled album Whatever Works Now. Moving forward, we will also see Walter Lure; the vocalist/guitarist for The Heartbreakers. Lately, this Punk Rock legend has been working as a stockbroker on Wall Street. But, he still performs in NYC with his current Waldo’s lineup. Whenever given the opportunity, Lure takes time off from his 9-5 job and travels the globe to perform. For instance, in 2013 Lure was granted the opportunity to play at three different concerts in the United Kingdom- which of course, he couldn’t let down. Another performer for the Benefit Concert is going to be Tommy Stinson, the bass guitarist for The Replacements. He was also given the opportunity to become the bassist in Gun’s N’ Roses, which he gladly accepted. Up until, 2016 when Duff McKagan rejoined the group. Last but not least, we will see Wayne Kramer in the performance, guitarist for MC5. Kramer has been more politically active in his recent years. In 2015, he was spotted playing for a Bernie Sanders campaign event in Davenport, Iowa. Also presenting is featured guests, Lenny Kaye, Bush Tetras and Mudd Club’s Marilyn. This supergroup will be presenting The Heatbreakers’ lone studio album, 1977 L.A.M.F. Playing this album in it’s entirety, the supergroup will touch on classic songs like, “Born To Lose”, “One Track Mind” and “Get Off The Phone”.
