This weekend was Neil Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit Concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. and the weekend went off with a bang. Young took the stage and also performed a cover of “Mr. Soul” by Buffalo Springfield with Metallica. The bands were in good spirits as they got ready to start the show, and Metallica vocalist James Hatfield made a side comment about how stoked he was to be performing with the music legend.
“We never get to jam too often, so this is pretty cool,” said Hatfield.
Neil Young also took the stage with Roger Waters and My Morning Jacket to perform Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young.” It’s truly a sight to see such iconic musicians come together to perform a timeless song like “Forever Young,” and fans enjoyed every second of it. Lucky for fans who couldn’t be at the benefit, there are live videos of the performances that you can watch in their entirety below.
For thirty years Neil Young has been putting on the Bridge School Benefit Concert as a non profit event, and donating the proceeds to the Bridge School for children with severe speech impediments and physical impairments. Since 1986 iconic musicians have been coming together for the cause, to perform all acoustic versions of their music.
Neil Young recently performed with Paul McCartney at the 2016 Desert Trip Festival and at the Outlaw Music Festival.
Metallica has been ahead of the music scene as they will be releasing their new album Hardwired…To Self Destruct on November 18 and are at the top of the headlining list for Lollapalooza Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
