Despite Severe Staph Infection Tool Drummer Danny Carey Plays Aftershock Festival Against Doctor’s Orders

The band that recently made headlines for calling out the negativity of demanding fans has made headlines again. Despite the long coming work for a new album and the stress it has put on the band, Tool has a member that is currently having stress in another aspect of life, and this one is serious.

Danny Carey, the drummer for Tool, played the Aftershock Festival of Sacramento, California this past weekend. However, Carey was strictly informed not to do so due to a severe staph infection. Even so, he played on, and he played well. The band’s guitar player informed the public through social media that Carey’s health was a concern. Adam Jones, said guitarist, made known that the elusive drummer was initially diagnosed with a poisonous spider bite; although, this was found out to not be the case and a serious infection was discovered as the culprit. Carey’s infection was originally drained and treated, but to an assumed dismay of his, it still came with the after effects of aching and much discomfort. But either for the love of music or the steadfast mentality to stick with commitment, Carey played the festival the next day with aching, pain, and all. Jones, the guitarist, praised Carey for this resilience in his social media post. See the post below…

Furthermore, it must also be assumed that the band hopes for the drummer’s recovery to be swift given the timeline Tool faces. The band is scheduled to play three more shows this week in late October.
