Earlier this year, Dresden Dolls’ Amanda Palmer released an album of folk covers, You Got Me Singing, alongside her father.
Yesterday, they premiered the video for their cover of folk standard “Wynken, Blynken and Nod,” which was originally set to music by the Simon Sisters and is based on Victorian nursery poem. Palmer herself conceived of the video’s concept, while Jim Batt and Kim Boekbinder directed the video.
The video, backed by the Palmers’ ethereal folk, features a time lapse that details multiple scenes happening in a single room over a lengthy period of time. These scenes include a feast, animals peeking through trees, fish jumping up from water, and others.
This year, in addition to Palmer’s newest album, she’s covered Bat For Lashes 2012 track “Laura” and Elliot Smith’s Angeles classic “Pictures For Me”. She also released, along with Brendan Maclean an absurd dance track “On The Door”, which featured contributions from Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Neil Gaiman, Reggie Watts, Ben Folds, Craig Ferguson, Eugene Mirman, Kirsten Vangsness, Mike Posner, Neil Gaiman, Noah Britton, and Sara Jones.
Earlier this month, Palmer announced she will release a new full-length album, Theatre Is Evil. The album will feature all 13 tracks from her 2012 album by the same name, all rerecorded with solo piano.
Palmer is set to embark on a short tour this November, featuring five stops across North America. The tour begins November 10 in New York and ends November 17 in Colorado.
