Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan officially filed suit earlier today against TNA Wrestling. Corgan is currently the organization’s president.
According to TMZ, Corgan filed for, and has been granted, a restraining order against TNA owner Dixie Carter. Carter’s husband, Serg Salias, is also named as defendant.
Corgan hasn’t yet revealed his grievance with TNA. He requested his lawsuit, filed in Nashville, be sealed. Corgan originally joined TNA in 2015 as senior producer of creative and talent development.
Wrestling site PWInsider.com today that Corgan has been in negotiations to purchase a majority stake in TNA.
“Enough air has gone out of the balloon,” Corgan said last month in a public statement. “It’s time to put air back in the balloon and let this thing be what it can be.”
PWInsider further notes that Corgan has invested heavily in TNA over the past few months. Corgan publically revealed he single handedly funded coverage of three rounds of TNA Impact Wrestling.
Corgan previously enjoyed a strong working relationship with Dixie Carter. She released a statement earlier this year praising Corgan’s work with TNA.bi

The more we discussed our vision for the organization, the clearer it became that position needed to match his commitment.”
