Former NWA members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre can both breath a sigh of release after they were recently dismissed from a lawsuit that claimed they were partly responsible for the wrongful death of Terry Carter, while on set for Straight Outta Compton in 2015.
During the filming of SOC, Suge Knight was caught on camera running over his alleged friend Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan, before promptly fleeing the premises. Terry Carter’s family claimed Ice Cube and Dr. Dre were partly to blame because the well known gang members they hired to prevent confrontations with Knight during filming, were actually the ones who instigated the situation.
The Grand Jury ultimately disagreed, and found the rap legends weren’t responsible for the actions of Suge Knight. All charges were dropped against them, but Knight still remains in jail as he awaits the trial for Carter’s death which is scheduled to be held on February 22 of next year.
Other than the obvious fact that Ice Cube doesn’t have to shell out millions anymore, 2016 has been a particularly great year for the gangster rap veteran. He took on several festival stages this year at Hard Summer and Coachella, where he was joined by fellow NWA member Dr. Dre during Weekend Two of the festival. He will also be performing at the upcoming Treasure Island Festival this October, where he will be headlining the main stage once again with a seriously epic performance.
The elusive and relatively private rap mogul Dr. Dre made several surprise appearances during Coachella. Not only did he jump on stage with Ice Cube to perform several of their NWA songs, he also joined Anderson Paak. with Kendrick Lamar during Paak.’s festival performance. Recently in 2015, he released his long awaited album Compton right before the critically acclaimed movie Straight Out of Compton hit the theaters.
