Unofficial Remixes Now Available On Spotify And Apple Music

Spotify and Apple have both made deals with Dubset, a music rights management service, in order to release unofficial remixes on their sites.

From the deal, the owners of the remixes will get paid for their content being on these company’s sites. One release that has arrived on Spotify and Apple is DJ Jazzy Jeff’s remix of Anderson .Paak’s “Room In Here”. With this streaming option available from Spotify and Apple, Anderson .Paak will get paid for his work. Anderson .Paak has recently announced a debut album called Yes Lawd! for his new band NxWorries.

To ensure that the right artist is credited for their work, Dubset will scan the song and match it with the original beats of the original content. This process will all be based on Gracenote’s audio fingerprinting database.

According to The Fader, the CEO of Dubset, Stephen White, told TechCrunch the following:

“Content owners have been very supportive. The publishing and label deals we have under license provides a large catalog to work with. Some of the content that until now has only been on YouTube and SoundCloud to come to these great paid services where content owners will get paid!”

With this new release, the competition between Soundcloud could possibly reduce, even though there has been some type of small deal made between Soundcloud and Dubset to allow short form mixes.
