The Pretty Reckless is set to tour this fall and new album is soon to come. The soulful, rock ‘n roll vocals of lead singer Taylor Momsen and the strong accompaniment of heavy drums and blues guitar are trademarks of the band’s, and it seems that they will stick to their chops and do so in the perfect way. The band has released the new song “Prisoner” which is on the new album, Who You Selling For, and it holds the awesome qualities of the band and in tip-top shape.

Coinciding with the name of the track, the intro starts with the sounds of footsteps and chains in rhythmic sync. This sets up the beat of the song and allows for a electric blues riff and steady drums to take over with the same musical time, keeping the sounds of prisoners walking in the mind of the listener. Next, Momsen belts out in a husky, but sweet tone, “I’m a prisoner, won’t you set me free.” Further, much like the songwriting of the classic blues tradition, the first line is repeated and then the first verse ends with “you can have my body, but you can’t have me,” showing signs of a near 12 bar blues scheme. Even so, true to form, The Pretty Reckless demonstrate a forceful persona with the new electric blues sound of “Prisoner” that gives way to anticipation of what to expect on Who You Selling For.
