The brand new rock group Gone is Gone is making splash within the next few months with their debut album announcement for January 2017. Troy Sanders of Mastodon, Troy Van Leeuwen from Queens of the Stone Age, Tony Hajjar of At the Drive-In, and Sencit Music founder Mike Zarin all came together to produce Echolocation, the follow up project to their EP in July called, Gone is Gone.
Disucssing the transition from their first EP to their upcoming album, Mike Zarin said, “We were able to expand on ideas that were explored early on and really build on them. By the time we got to working on the album, everything had clicked and we knew ‘this is what this is going to be.’ And that made a huge difference.”
Echolocation was recorded at Sencit Studios in Los Angeles, and mixed by music scene veteran Ken Andrews who has worked with Grammy award winning musicians such as Beck and Pete Yorn.
Troy Sanders who came up with the idea for the band’s name, described the moment he first knew the band was coming together.
“I was standing in line at the DMV in Atlanta and my phone rings, and it’s one of my musical heroes, Troy Van Leeuwen.” Sanders said in an interview with Billboard. “That was a phone call that just threw a giant rainbow into the miserable DMV environment where I was standing. It was almost like the stars aligned to make this band happen.”
