Seminal Canadian Punk Band NoMeansNo Are Retiring

The Canadian prog punk band NoMeansNo have unfortunately announced their retirement. In a Facebook post, the band’s drummer John Wright wrote that “a lingering hiatus has become a permanent one.” After 35 years and many shows later, the band is finally calling it quits.

The band was formed back in the late 1970s in Victoria, British Columbia by Wright and his brother/bassist Rob. They self released their debut album Mama in 1982 and their final record was All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt in 2006. Then in 2015 they were inducted into the Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame. NoMeansNo’s final line up was accompanied by guitarist Tom Holliston.
