Nicholas Jaar Announces New Album “Sirens” for September 2016 Release

Nicholas Jaar has announced the release date of his forthcoming LP “Sirens”, which is expected to be available digitally on September 30th and physically October 14th. His upcoming international fall tour, which kicks off October 15th in Atlanta, Georgia, will be in support of this six-track album which is said to be his “most topically cohesive and politically-minded record to date”.

The album will be released under the label Other People Records, Jaar’s self-created, independent, New York-based label whose paramount pride comes from the unique yet universal sounds of the artists who sign with them. Nicholas Jaar definitely contributes to the desired culturally collective concept with which this label was conceived, alongside other up-and-coming artists including Lydia Lynch, Acid Pauli, and Hollow Earth.

This six-track LP is said to “flow seamlessly” from one track to the next, with lyrical emphasis on current events and conflict in contemporary society. Not only is the music within the album extraordinary, but the album art work itself also speaks to the individuality of the record: the vinyl version will feature a scratch-off cover with the artwork lying underneath a lottery ticket style paper. Before and after scratch-off cover art, as well as the LP’s track list, can be viewed below:

Jaar began producing material when he was just 17 years old back in 2007, and released his debut album Space is Only Noise in 2011. Since then he has released 3 full-length albums, 2 compilations, and a multitude of singles and EPs. Over this time he has transitioned from a shadowy figure in the underground electronic scene to a sensational festival favorite, making appearances at festivals such as Electric Paradise Music Festival 2015, Big Ears Festival 2016, and Manana Festival 2016 in Santiago de Cuba. In addition to his solo music career and record label, Jaar co-founded an experimental DJ duo alongside Dave Harrington. The DJ duo has played at various New York venues, but has reached ears globally through broadcasting platform’s like The Boiler Room, for whom they played an intimate rooftop session in New York back in 2014.
