For two days in a row, the featured show preview has been a band or artist out of Australia. It must be because whether it be punk rock or blues, down under churns out some great musicians that we love all the way across the world. C.W. Stoneking has proved himself a well-accomplished blues player time and time again.
Most songs of his take on the traditional, non-edited feel of old blues. When you put on one of his songs, it feels as though you’re being transported into the past through his music. Each song is produced in a quality that makes it sound like it’s being played on vinyl even if you’re using bluetooth speakers, which increases the quality of his blues style.
Stoneking has achieved major critical success, but not much recognition by the mainstream masses, perhaps pointing to a lack of interest in blues music these days. Whatever the case is, I think people should start recognizing his deep bluesy drawl for the genius it is.
