LISTEN: New Lazarus Cast Recordings Of “Life On Mars?” And “Lazarus”

ISO/Columbia/RCA is set to release the original cast recording of David Bowie’s Lazerus musical on October 21st. The musical debuted in New York, and will now move on to London after a highly successful initial run.

The recording will be available on double-CD and triple-LP, and consists primarily of cast covers of David Bowie penned tracks. Three previously unreleased Bowie tracks will also be included on the album. They were the last pieces of music he recorded prior to his death last year.

Lazerus is based on Bowie’s 1976 film The Man Who Fell From Earth, in which he played alcoholic alien Thomas Newton. The show stars Dexter and Six Feet Under actor Michael C Hall, and was co-written with Irish playwright Enda Walsh and directed by Belgian Ivo van Hove.

In advance of the album release, ISO/Columbia/RCA shared covers of “Life on Mars?” and “Lazerus” by Sofia Caruso and Michael C. Hall respectively. Hall has performed in a series of tribute concerts to Bowie throughout the past year. Listen to both “Life on Mars?” and “Lazerus below.
