Black Sabbath are set to reissue their landmark sophomore album, Paranoid, on November 11th. The Super Deluxe Edition includes the 2012 remaster of the 1970 original, in addition to a rare 1974 quad mix and two 1970 concerts (Montreux and Brussels).
The four-disc set further includes a hardbound book with extensive liner notes featuring new interviews with all four-band members, rare photos, and memorabilia, a poster, as well as a replica of the tour book sold during the Paranoid tour. Paranoid: Super Deluxe Edition will retail at $39.98.
The 1974 quadraphonic mix is the clear collector’s prize from the reissue. Blacck Sabbath initially released the quad mix on both vinyl and 8-track cartridge, but this marks the mix’s debut on CD.
Both live releases included in the reissue have circulated for years in bootleg form, but have never been officially released. Both were recorded in close proximity to Paranoid’s official release.
Following the release of Paranoid: Super Deluxe Edition and the end of Black Sabbath’s ongoing world tour, the band will officially disband. The band will play two final shows in Birmingham, their hometown, before ending their pioneering project.
