King Dude @ Beat Kitchen 12/17

With a sound that seems to take on a Danzig vibe with more new wave influences, King Dude is becoming a a name to know. His music is dark and his voice deep and haunting. There is nothing copied or unoriginal about his songs, especially with the “dark magic” type vibes his music and aura gives off.

The combination of eerie piano and guitar creates a haunting background for his extremely deep vibrato. You can clearly hear that he has a mass of influences including blues and folk music, even touching on the styles of heavy metal. Even though it sounds dark, he begs for people to wake up and explore their spirituality like he does through his music. Listening makes you feel as if you’re at a new, alternative kind of church that brings enlightenment with each listen.

The darkness is a bit reminiscent of his hometown Seattle, known for its dreary atmosphere and constant rain. King Dude has about thirteen releases on his band camp profile, each unique but completely true to his style. Unfortunate to all of his younger fans, the show will be 21+, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of him in the future.
