Hard-hitting, aggressive, and powerful, High On Fire, has released a new music video to their track “The Black Pot.” True to their metal nature, the song rages with loud drums and a fast-twitch electric guitar. The vocals tell an aggression narrative and capture the essence of the video in the chaos and violence involved, having war-like acts, devastation, and NSFW content in animation of an evil female villain that seemingly causes tragedy to happen in the end of the story told.
The video, oddly, is animated, yet the distinction from other videos seems to work for High On Fire. With the start of the song and intro, a setting is laid out. A war like state in the presence of an alternate planet lays the locations of the chaos about to be put forth. Odd and monster-like creatures play the characters that are soon to embark on a battle. A hero, reminiscent of ‘80s cartoon heroes, arises as the primary player in the video as the war and battle ensue the aggression that is almost perfectly coupled with the track’s aggression. “The Black Pot” video holds a tragic feeling that the song has in its endings moments. A naked and monster-like goddess defeats the hero set forth in the beginning. It seems that a hope is lost in the music’s story telling as well as the visual component of the video. The hero has fallen. The evil has won. The battle was lost. And “The Black Pot” has made its mark.
