Earlier this year, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) began to share the details of his latest album, Pharos. Abandoning all forms of convention, the artist created an entire 3-day live event, that has since been shrouded in mystery, to properly drop the new record. The mystery has continued, even throughout the event itself.

The PHAROS event took place throughout the weekend, but information about the grand album release still remains scarce. The air mystery was maintained when fans were unable to enter PHAROS with their phones and were instructed to keep them in lockers over the weekend. information about the event was limited to social media posts before/after PHAROS, along with social media posts from a handful of rebellious fans who entered with their devices.

While information is scarce, event-goers unanimously hailed the event for the scenic visuals, unique experience, and Gambino’s new material – both his series Atlanta and his Pharos album. Glover played the album in its entirety, which fans have characterized as a “tribal” soulful jazz collection of 12 songs. Fans noted little to no rapping throughout. The only sense of disappointment was begotten from the announcement that the PHAROS performance would be Childish Gambino’s finale for 2016.
