The Pop Group Announce New Album Honeymoon On Mars For October 2016 Release

Punk Pop group The Pop Group has announced the release date for their upcoming album Honeymoon On Mars. The album will be released on October 28, 2016 through the label Freaks R Us.

When describing the record, Mark Stewart, the vocalist of the band, had said that it was “a stand against manufactured hate” and “a hypersonic journey into a dystopian future full of alien encounters and sci-fi lullabies.”

The band has slowly began the process of recreating music after their reformation at the ATP festival in 2010. Honeymoon On Mars follows the 2015 LP Citizen Zombie, their first album in thirty five years. This album contains ten tracks created with a mix of material from punk, jazz, dub, funk, just like previous albums. Recording and producing has continued since early summer in various studios with the band’s producers Dennis Bovell, who has worked on their debut Y, and Hank Shocklee, producer of Public Enemy’s first three albums as a member of the Bomb Squad. Producer Dennis Bovell worked for the majority of the songs on the album, while Hank Shocklee helped with the production of the songs City Of Eyes, War Inc., and Burn Your Flag. Mark Stewart had this statement to add about the producers:

“We’ve at last fulfilled a double fantasy to work with our two favourite sonic assassins, Dennis ‘Blackbeard’ Bovell and Hank Shocklee.  We’re in awe as Dennis, the Captain Kirk of dub is taking us on a hyper sound voyage into the future, and Hank, as always tears up the rules totally upholding our faith in the absolute value of noise.  We’ve gone completely off the map.”

The Pop Group are planning to follow the production and release of the album with a UK tour. The album artwork and tracklist are listed below.
