Dallas indie rock group True Widow has released a new single, “O.O.T.V.”, which is set to feature on their upcoming album. True Widow will debut the album, Avvolgere, on September 23rd via Relapse.
“O.O.T.V” functions within the typical framework of a True Widow song. Chugging shoegaze guitars and dry percussion dominate the track, soaring over relatively traditional rock vocals. The track never varies from its core arrangement, establishing a hazy, doomy atmosphere. Within this established framework, the track succeeds. However, it does little to differentiate itself from True Widow’s previous output.
True Widow announced the release date for Avvolgere on August 11, and also released the single “Theurgist”. The group has released four studio LP’s, and have received broad critical acclaim. They released their most recent album, Circumambulation, in 2013.
