Baroness is known as the American heavy metal band from Savannah, Georgia formed in 2003.  Today the group premiered music video for the song “Try to Disappear” via Juxtapoz.  Just recently Baroness launched a new round of U.S. tour dates in support of the album Purple in which the new video is from the Purple album.  The premiere video captures the band performing a live set in support of the 10 song album.  The singer of  the group, John Baizley, just said in an interview with SF Weekly that “the cathartic experience of playing live music has not changed over the 13 years of performing.”  Baizley continues that “the response to this record has been really really overwhelming.  There have been some pretty dramatic changes in the way that our audiences react to our songs and I couldn’t be happier about that.”  The video is more than just a live performance, but it captures the essence of the audience creating a whole experience.

Purple was released on December 18 via the band’s own label Abraxan Hymns.  The album is produced by The Dave Fridmann and it has been universally praised with Pitchfork saying that the album features “some of the biggest, strong songs Baroness has ever written.”  Entertainment Weekly continues to give props to the album stating that the album is “their finest release yet.

This album comes just a couple years after the tragic bus crash near Bath, England.  On August 15, 2012, nine passengers were injured when the band was traveling in a German registered coach and fell 30 feet from a viaduct.  The passengers were transferred to the Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.  Due to this fatal crash, the singer John Baizley suffered a broken left arm and broken left leg, Allen Blicle and Matt Maggioni suffered fractured vertebrae, and Pete Adams was treated and released from the hospital.  The band definitely bounced back after the incident to produce one of the best metal albums of 2015.
