According to The Best of Line Fit, Late of the Pier frontman LA Priest has teamed up with psychedelic pop artist Connan Mockasin to form Soft Hair. The duo will be releasing their self-titled debut album October 28th through Weird World. The video for the first single released off the LP, “Lying has to Stop”, can be viewed below:
The video, which mostly takes place in a colorfully lit room lined with metallic walls, looks like a public access version of “Hotline Bling”, but in a good way. The glossy, bright look perfectly compliments the shining synthpop single that accompanies it. The close up, intimate cinematography make this project look vulnerable and charged, as if the duo are both baring their whole artistic selves in some sort of avant-garde hail Mary. In a way, displaying LA Priest and Connan viewing each other naked displays how comfortable they are with one another. Their compatibility shows musically too, as Connan’s lucid, psychedelic style melds smoothly with LA Priest’s synth-pop charm.
Soft Hair has been a passion project of the duo for a long time, and its existence was confirmed all the way back in 2010. This marks the first time fans of both artists can actually see their collaboration come to fruition.
