With the recent release on Faith No More’s We Care A Lot (Deluxe Band Edition), the band shares a video of their performance of the orginal album’s tracklist. The video was a live performance at The I-Beam on the night of January, 13 1986 in San Francisco, California, shown below.
The tracklist, played throughout The I-Beam, was listed in the beginning of the video. This list includes all the songs from the original album except “Why Do You Bother” and “Greed”. As the video continues, the band performs the songs listed in the beginning as the lights of the platform change colors. As the color changing, clips of the members playing their instruments overlap each other to create smoother transitions.
The music style of Faith No More’s We Care A Lot has been described to be many things, such as “The Misunderstanding of Faith” by Pitchfork in a 2015 article or a “raw punk album” by Rolling Stones. But when people ask what Faith No More is about, the band says “well, it’s kind of an art band…”.
During this time period in the band’s history, the band had released We Care A Lot on November 25, 1985. Initially, the album was being recording without a record label, but later they gained attention from the label formed by Ruth Schwartz, Maximum RocknRoll’s editor, known as Mordam Records. Through the early years of the band, there were many changes in the vocalist and guitarist position. According to All Music, the several changes caused many disagreements and fights, which could be detected from the album through the abrasive vocals and metallic guitar.
Along with the deluxe edition released on Friday, the band is hard at work creating a deluxe edition of the albums King for A Day… Fool For A Lifetime and Album of the Year, which is expected to be released in September. From the past week, Faith No More performed songs from the We Care A Lot album at Troubadour in Hollywood.
