Peerless metal supergroup Metallica has released a preview of their upcoming album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct through trailer. The album will drop on November 18th through Blackened Records. You can watch the video below:
The preview for “Moth Into Flame” begins at 2:08. The lyrics “Blacked out, pop queen/ Amphetamine, the screams crashed in the silence,” can be heard, as the clip is interrupted by a wailing guitar riff and a clip from the band’s movie Metallica Through The Never. Luckily, Metallica played “Hardwired” in full at show in Minneapolis, and it was filmed professionally, so the song can be viewed in its entirety. Before the preview is shown, a medley of classic Metallica songs and shows are shown, including “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, “Master of Puppets”, “One”, and “The Day That Never Comes”.
Metallica will certainly be keeping themselves busy over the upcoming few months. According to drummer Lars Ulrich, the band is planning on embarking on its first U.S. arena tour since 2009. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Ulrich said,
“It’s time to come back, and do some proper penetration of America. We did 180 shows on the ‘Death Magnetic’ tour in two-week periods over three years. That’s what works for us. We’re going to start pretty much full-on touring in January and are looking to figure out what we’re doing in North America, but there will definitely be some pretty extensive touring in America.”
Ulrich also spoke about how the songs on Hardwired..For Destruction will be shorter in length and less cerebral than 2008’s Death Magnetic. Ulrich clarified,
“Some of the songs from the new record are a little more physical. It’s gonna be a lot of fun to play this. Also, some of these songs are a little shorter than the ones on ‘Death Magnetic’. I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun to throw many of these songs in, but we’ll change the setlist every night like we always do.”
