Against Me! have embraced their original DIY ethics for their new “Crash” video, employing purposely cheap special effects to create a truly homemade video. “Crash” is a previously released single set to feature on upcoming album Shape Shift With Me.
The quartet filmed the video at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia and purposely emphasized the campy aesthetics of their anthemic pop-punk track. They wear Kiss-like makeup and jump around like children, clearly expressing joy in the music they play.
“This was one of the most difficult videos we’ve ever made because it was filmed in outer space,” drummer Atom Willard joked in a statement about the Jason Thrasher-directed clip. “The time it took to get there alone was enough to make some bands back down from the challenge, but we really believed it was the only way to fully realize our vision.”
Against Me! will release Shape Shift With Me on September 16 via Treble. The album marks their 7th studio LP and first since 2014’s acclaimed Transgender Dysmorphia Blues. The band has also announced tour dates throughout 2016, including sets alongside Bad Religion and Dave Hause. Watch the video for “Crash” below.
