It’s time for another dose of Metallica as the legendary metal icons announced their eleventh studio full length for a November 28 release date. The double-album will be released via Blackened Recordings (the band’s own label) and will follow up the quartet’s last LP, 2008’s Death Magnetic. Like the previous album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct was produced by Greg Fidelman.

Drummer Lars Ulrich had this to say about the new album: “We’re obviously beyond psyched to share new tunes with all our friends out there.  We’ve been rockin’ along in the studio with Greg on and off for the last 18 months firing up the creative engines again.”

Along with the announcement of this upcoming 2xLP, the band also released a new music video for the quasi title-track “Hardwired.” The song is classic Metallica, with a chugging intro riff that leads into a thrashing verse and even features a little double-bass action from Ulrich – with the exception of the expected high-end production values, “Hardwired” could have as easily been pulled from the band’s trash metal heyday (in fact, the band members have mentioned the album is inspired by their classic thrash LP Kill ‘Em All). Best of all, unlike previous attempts to recapture the energy of their younger days, “Hardwired” feels effortless.
