Regina Spektor has released a new single, “Small Bill$”, which will feature on her upcoming LP. In July, Spektor announced that she will release her seventh album, Remember Us to Life, on September 30. She debuted a new single, “Bleeding Heart”, to accompany her album release date announcement.
“Small Bill$” relies on relatively simple production, employing only hard-hitting drums and chugging violins. Spektor displays impressive vocal restraint, refraining from unnecessary vocal action. Instead, she turns in an uncharacteristically stable performance, crafting a dark, brooding rocker.
After Spektor’s last LP, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, received mixed critical acclaim, she retreated from the spotlight. “Bleeding Heart”, along with her recently cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, marked her return to the spotlight.
