Emmylou Harris Announces Fall 2016 Tour Dates With Steve Earle, Patty Griffin and More

Thirteen time Grammy winner Emmylou Harris has just confirmed a North American tour this fall featuring special guests Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, and the Milk Carton Kids. Not all stops will feature all artists though. Steve Earle, who earlier this summer released album Colvin & Earle along with Shawn Colvin will also be joining the tour. The tour has been titled Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees and will raise awareness for the current refugee crisis.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is set to host the tour in order to support the Global Education Initiative. JRS works in over 45 countries to help displaced refugees. Funds raised by the tour will support educational programs put on by the organization. Emmylou stated

“After witnessing firsthand the work of JRS in Ethiopia this past June, I have never been more inspired to champion such a critical cause. The better angels of our nature call upon us to act with compassion and not with fear in the face of so much suffering.”
