A few days ago, the Disney movie remake of Pete’s Dragon made its debut in movie theaters. Many artists like Okkervil River and Leonard Cohen, along with St. Vincent contributed to the soundtrack of the film. The soundtrack is out currently, under Walt Disney Records.
Annie Clark aka St. Vincent posted her cover of “Something on My Mind” on her Youtube account. This cover is from the song “Something On Your Mind”, written by Karen Dalton and Dino Valenti, from Karen Dalton’s 1971 In My Own Time album. Listen to the song below.
On this cover, the musician takes a softer approach on the lyrics adding a sense of uniqueness that came with the meaning of the song. Throughout the cover, her voice and the acoustic guitar blend together slowly to create a moving atmosphere that would work well with the themes made from the new movie like friendship and love.
Recently, Clark has been collaborating with artists, such as the National and Peter Gabriel, on new songs or new projects.
