Alternative hip-hop producer The Gaslamp Killer has announced his newest album Instrumentalepathy for a September 16, 2016 release. Instrumentalepathy will mark The Gaslamp Killler’s first studio album release in four years.

The Gaslamp Killer is currently signed to Brainfeeder, a label that was started by critically acclaimed producer Flying Lotus. Additionally, TGK helped found Low End Theory, a weekly club of underground instrumental hip-hop producers who promote and discuss each other’s music. The Gaslamp Killer will be collaborating with his fellow Low End Theory artists on Instrumentalepathy.

The album art was designed by French surrealist artist Albane Simon. Its chaotic and crowded nature is meant to showcase the chaos that The Gaslamp Killer has had to overcome both in his instrumentation and his musical career, including but not limited to his near-death experience. Back in 2013, The Gaslamp Killer was involved in a motorized scooter accident that left him with severe internal bleeding. Because of this incident, his spleen had to be removed. A consequence of this was that TGK could never drink or do drugs again, which is something that he quickly came to terms with. However, the incident did not stop TGK from creating new music, instead the bedridden composer became more inspired than ever to channel his emotions into art.
