The Maccabees Announce Breakup After 14 Years

All good things must come to an end they say, and it’s now the unfortunate truth for the UK indie rock band The Maccabees. In an emotional statement made by the band on their official Twitter page, they announced after 14 years of making music together they are going their separate ways.

They will begin to individually make their own music after their “creative peak and off the back off the best and biggest shows we have ever done.” The Maccabees made sure to note that there are no negative feelings between the band members and their time spent together making music was nothing but a wonderful experience.

Of course they wouldn’t leave their fans high and dry without a last performance. Written in the statement the band promised they’d soon be announcing dates for their farewell celebration shows, so you can catch your favorite band one last time before the split.

The Maccabees will be leaving their fans with 14 years of dedicated material that fans will be able to cherish the rest of their lifetime. Hitting the scene in 2005 with their debut single “X-Ray,” the band received little recognition. However it wasn’t long until their music took the world by storm when they dropped their second single “Latchmere” six months later when it became popular among radio DJ’s and aired on the hit TV channel MTV2.

Once they were established as a successful band, fans had several hit albums to look forward to including Colour it In, Wall of Arms, and Given to the Wild. They were also no strangers to festivals when the band played this year at the Latitude UK Festival and Benicassim in Spain. Now, the world will be waiting to see what’s in store for the solo music artists.
