Fans were rejoiced in 2014 when the British rock band Slowdive came out of a decade long hiatus to perform live and journey on reunion tour over Europe and North America. It’s time for celebration once again because Slowdive has announced they will be releasing their fourth studio album together sometime in 2017.
The band has just finished recording and will be mixing the album this summer. While band members said in an Undertoner article via Reddit that they didn’t know when they’d be releasing it, the article author Perry MacLeod, stated that band member Scott had mentioned it should be fairly soon.
“I didn’t write it out in the interview since it was just a guess from Mr. Scott, but he said the album would probably be out in 2017,” she said in the comment section of the Reddit article.
In their last album Pygmalion, band member Neil Halstead seemingly changed their sound from a whimsical guitar sound to undeniably harder sounding music.Now after two decades expect the upcoming album to feature a different style as well.
“It’s Neil, who is the primary songwriter, but what has changed since the ’90s, is that he asked me to manipulate some of the sounds we have recorded,” drummer Simon Scott said. “It’s not that the album is going to sound electronically. We’ve played together for two years after the restoration, and Neil wanted to capture how well a live band, we are, in the studio. So in that way it’s a live record.”
