Ethereal R&B singer BANKS has dropped new track “Gemini Feed” as the second single from her upcoming sophomore LP. Due to be titled The Altar, the record is set to be released through Harvest Records on September 30. The news comes after the release of lead single “Fuck With Myself” in mid-July, which was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.
BANKS (né Jillian Rose Banks), was born and raised in the Orange / L.A. County area. After her parents’ divorce, Banks started writing her own songs at the age of 15, leading to a particular track being played by DJ Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 at which point Banks started blowing up.
After bursting into the scene, Banks further exploded through her debut album, Goddess, which was released on September 5, 2014 and charted within the top 20 of several countries, including the UK, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and Sweden.
Banks has set a pretty high standard for herself for her second album. Set to be 13 tracks and just under 48 minutes long, the new record has been touched by many a hand, including producers Sohn, Lido, Hector Santizo, Lindsey Ramey, Tim Anderson and Al Shux, who also worked on BANKS’ debut record Goddess.
Second single “Gemini Feed” premiered exclusively on Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 August 2nd. Speaking to Mac about the new release she stated, “I just had so much to write about, this album for me is really kind of like a metamorphoses of me coming into my own.”
