Dwight Yoakam has just announced his new studio album Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars set for release on September 23rd via Sugar Hill Records. The album includes reinterpretations of some of Yoakam’s classic tunes, which he is calling “Bluegrass Reinventions”. The entire album is a reflection of Yoakam’s love of bluegrass music that he developed as a young kid in Kentucky. Grammy winner Gary Paczosa produced the album along with songwriter John Randall and Yoakam. The project was recorded at Southern Ground Studio in Tennessee as well as Capitol Records Studio B in Los Angeles. Bryan Sutton (guitar), Stuart Duncan (fiddle and banjo), Barry Bales (bass), Adam Steffey (mandolin), and Scott Vestal (banjo) are all featured on the album.
Yoakam is currently on tour and will be in Biloxi this Friday. The tour finishes up on December 8th is Las Vegas. See a full list of tour dates below.
