The National Debut New Song “Prom Song 13th Century” at Hollywood Bowl with St. Vincent

It has been over three years since the National released their last album,  Trouble Will Find Me, Now, the wait for new music is over. In their live shows, they’ve been debuting more new songs each time they play. The National recently debuted another new song, “Prom Song 13th Century” during their Los Angeles performance at the Hollywood Bowl. The new song features duet with Matt Berninger and St. Vincent’s Annie Clark, who has been busy working with Peter Gabriel on the Sync Project.

Clark has previously collaborated with The National for a cover of Crooked Fingers’ “Sleep All Summer”. She’s also joined the band on stage making appearances at shows several times over the years.

Members of the National have also kept themselves plenty busy with releasing new music and touring all summer long.

The National has yet to announce a new album but, in recent months, they’ve  debuted songs called“Checking Out” and “The Day I Die”.

According to Sterogum, their set leaned heavily on new material. They played those two songs, as well as the newish joints “Roman Candle” and “The Lights.” The War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel sat in on guitar on two songs. And as their first encore, they debuted an absolutely gorgeous new song called “Prom Song 13th Century (Frankie & Johnny).”

The song is a lovely ballad between the two and their performance matched the vibe of the song, ending with Berninger and Clark sharing a little slow dance.
